Battle Creek man hit by vehicle; injured

PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – A Battle Creek man was seriously injured after he was hit by a vehicle Thursday in Pennfield Township.

It happened just after noon on Morgan Road near East Avenue North.

A 32-year-old Davidson man was headed east on Morgan Road when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the centerline and hit Jeffrey William Roberts, 24, investigators said.

The Davidson man’s vehicle then went off the road, hit several trees and flipped over, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Roberts was seriously hurt and taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment.

The driver was taken to the Calhoun County Jail after he was arrested for reckless driving causing serious injury. His name is being held until he’s arraigned.

Calhoun County sheriff’s deputies are still investigating the accident.
