MOTTVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — An Indiana man was killed Friday morning in a work accident in Michigan’s St. Joseph County.
It happened at Anderson’s Mill on Anderson Road in Mottville Township, south of White Pigeon near the Indiana border, according to the St. Joseph Sheriff’s Department.
The victim, a 30-year-old from Elkhart, was loading rail cars when he lost his footing and fell into a hopper car.
His coworkers pulled him out, called 911 and started CPR.
Emergency responders arrived and continued efforts to resuscitate the man, but he was pronounced dead.
His name is being withheld pending notification of family.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) is investigating.
