GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Hotel revenue in Grand Rapids increased by nearly 10% in 2013, according to Experience Grand Rapids.
A record-high 137,490 hotel rooms were booked for group business in 2013, the tourism marketing organization said. That translates into more than $141 million in business impact.
And there was a record-high $139 million in hotel room revenue — a 9.7% increase over 2012, which also set a record for revenue.
Experience Grand Rapids also says it saw a 27% increase in traffic on the Experience GR website.
The organization says the increases are a result of marketing and sales efforts by Experience GR and its partners. It cited a Pure Michigan ad featuring Grand Rapids, contributions to the city being named Beer City USA, and its new Certified Tourism Ambassador program.
Experience Grand Rapids also says the growth is expected to continue as many group events are already scheduled.
