WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) – The southbound lanes of US-131 in Wyoming at 44th Street were shut down for a time Monday afternoon due to multiple wrecks, police say.

The wrecks happened around noon on the highway between the 44th Street and 54th Street exits.

The precise number of vehicles involved was unknown, but at least a dozen — including a garbage truck and a fifth-wheel camper — could be seen along side the highway. One Michigan State Police trooper described the scene as “a mess.”

It was unknown if there were any injuries.

Wrecker crews were brought in to clear vehicles from the roadway.
