60% of Kent Co. road salt used so far

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Kent County has used more than 60 percent of its road salt supply so far this winter.

Jerry Byrne, maintenance director for the Kent County Road Commission, told 24 Hour News 8 his crews have used 40,000 tons of road salt.

In just the past two weeks, the county has spread 14,000 tons.

Road crews will be out in full force clearing the roads on Saturday when the latest snowstorm hits West Michigan.
