Charity Ball honors local non-profits

Charity Ball

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) This year, the Kent County Medical Society Alliance chose The Bridge at Arbor Circle and The Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan to be the recipients of money raised through the Charity Ball.

The Bridge at Arbor Circle was created to provide shelter and support services to runaway and homeless youth, ages ten to 17. On average, it serves 300 young people in Kent County each year.

The Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan aims to ensure individuals are supported through education and builds awareness about suicide prevention and other challenges to good mental health.

The Charity Ball aimed to raise $60,000 at this year’s event, which was held on February 1, 2014. $30,000 will go to each of the organizations. In the past 24 years, The Kent County Medical Society Alliance has raised more than $1 million through this event.

You can purchase one of the unique table centerpieces Carol Roeda made just for the Charity Ball. They are $200 each and the proceeds will go to The Bridge at Arbor Circle and the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan. If you’re interested, email karenbegrow@gmail.com.
