Heart researcher coming to Medical Mile

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Spectrum Health and Van Andel Research Institute have joined forces to lure a big name in heart research to downtown Grand Rapids’ Medical Mile.

Dr. Stefan Jovinge, a native of Sweden and world-renowned heart researcher whose primary focus is heart tissue regeneration, will be working in Grand Rapids.

Jovinge will lead research efforts to stimulate regenerative medicine for heart disease, according to a release.

His expertise and work in Grand Rapids could make major medical breakthroughs in heart health, according to experts.
