GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A jury has handed down a guilty verdict for a woman accused of attacking her parents with a hatchet and another weapon while they slept.

Amber Wilson was found guilty of two counts of assault with intent to murder Monday afternoon in Kent County Circuit Court.

The incident occurred  in March 2013 at Wilson’s  parents’ home in Wyoming.

According to court documents, Wilson’s mother and step-father awoke on the night of the incident and saw Wilson, who was holding a hatchet, standing over them, yelling, “I’m gonna kill you! You’re going to die!”

Both Wilson’s mother and stepfather survived the attack.

Prior to her trial, Wilson underwent several evaluations to determine if she was competent to stand trial.

Wilson is scheduled to be sentenced on March. 3. She could receive up to life in prison for the attacks.
