PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was hospitalized in critical condition Sunday after a three-vehicle crash in Portage involving a semi-truck.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of S. Westnedge and Milham avenues, according to the Portage Department of Public Safety.

A passenger car headed west on Milham disobeyed a red light to cross Westnedge, police say. It collided with the trailer of semi-truck headed south on Westnedge.

The passenger car then struck a northbound SUV.

The driver of the westbound car, a 30-year-old man from Portage, was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

The drivers of the semi and SUV were not hurt.
