Caring for Olympic athletes

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) It takes a lot of skill, dedication, and training to be an Olympian athlete. But it also takes the best care a doctor has to keep athletes in shape and injury free.

Carl Wierks is an Orthopedic Surgeon with The Bone and Joint Center at Holland Hospital. He has served as a physician for the U.S. ski and snowboard teams. Dr. Wierks shares his perspective into the life of an Olympian, what the athletes do to stay healthy and perform their best, and treatments for common injuries.
