GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man who police thought was hold up in a house on Grand Rapids’ west side was taken into custody elsewhere Wednesday evening.
A woman called 911 saying her ex-boyfriend had a rifle and was threatening suicide, according to the Grand Rapids Police department. She also told a 911 dispatcher that the man had said that if police were called, he would “take them out with him.”
Officers responded and set up a perimeter around a residence in the 800 block of Fourth Street NW near Stocking Avenue.
They then learned the man had left the scene before their arrival.
He found by officers on the street in the area of Brown Street and Division Avenue and taken into police custody without incident.
A semi-automatic rifle was recovered, according to a Thursday release.
The man, 33-year-old Larry Alan Cox, is expected to be arraigned Friday morning for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He is being held in the Kent County jail on $100,000 bond.
