COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WOOD) — The West Michigan Whitecaps kicked off ticket sales Saturday with an open house at Fifth Third Ballpark.
The open house served up free hot dogs, hot chocolate and Pepsi products to hundreds of fans Saturday. There were also carnival rides, s’mores and toasted marshmallows, face painting and a coloring station.
Individual game tickets went on sale in the Pepsi Stadium Club at 10 a.m. Tickets are also on sale online
Anyone who bought an Opening Day ticket at the open house also got a free ticket to a game of their choice in April or May.
“This is a huge turnout; bigger turnout than we expected today,” media relations director for Whitecaps Mickey Graham said.
The Saturday event was the first time the public has been allowed inside Fifth Third Ballpark since it sustained significant damage in a Jan. 3 fire. The stadium has been under construction since then to get it ready for the upcoming season.
“Everyday, it’s helpful because you see progress and can say ‘Hey, we’re getting closer and closer and closer’” Graham said.
