No one hurt after roof over 8 garages collapsed

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — No one is hurt after a roof that covered eight garages at a Wyoming condo residence collapsed Saturday morning.

The collapse happened around 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of Banner Court. Residents of the Leisure Acres tell 24 Hour News 8 they heard the garages make noises and saw the roof sag Friday night. They feared the garage was going to collapse, so they moved their vehicles out and used floor jacks to hold the roof up.

Unfortunately, around 11:30 Saturday morning, the roof fell in and the eight garages came down. One car was still inside a garage when the collapse occurred and one car was partially moved.

No one was hurt in the collapse. Nearby residents came by to help move the debris off the cars in the garage area.

Residents say the garage was approx. 40 years old. They blame heavy snow and ice as the cause of the collapse.
