Woman with warrants crashes after police chase

PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Battle Creek woman faces multiple charges after allegedly leading deputies on a short chase Saturday.

Just before noon Saturday, and Calhoun County sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull the woman over near the intersection of Wagner Drive and Roosevelt Avenue in Pennfield Township for a traffic violation.

Instead, the woman took off and led police on a short chase before colliding with a cruiser and crashed in the 1400 block of Capital Avenue NE. She was then arrested.

The car, it was later found, had been reported stolen and the woman already had multiple warrants for her arrest.

The woman, 29, was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

She was then lodged in the Calhoun County Jail for unlawfully driving away of an automobile, fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license and the outstanding warrants.

Her name is being withheld pending arraignment.
