GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — More ice has built up on Lake Michigan this winter than in the last 20 years – which makes for a spectacular view from above.

Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Kyle Underwood got the chance to survey the ice over the weekend with a pilot from West Michigan Flight Academy.

While they did find open water, they had to fly quite far out from the shoreline to find it.
