8th snowiest season for Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Records continue to fall for Grand Rapids this winter season.

As of Tuesday morning, the city has received a total of 101.1 inches of snow for the 2013/14 season, marking the eighth snowiest season in the city’s history, according to the National Weather Service.

Here are the Top 10 snowiest seasons for Grand Rapids –

  • 1. 1951/52 — 132.2 inches
  • 2. 2007/08 — 107.1 inches
  • 3. 2001/02 — 105.4 inches
  • 4. 2008/09 — 104.8 inches
  • 5. 1958/59 — 104.8 inches
  • 6. 1964/65 — 101.5 inches
  • 7. 1970/71 — 101.3 inches
  • 8. 2013/14 — 101.1 inches
  • 9. 1996/97 — 98.5 inches
  • 10. 2000/01 — 98.3 inches

Grand Rapids and Muskegon set records Monday for the most snowfall for that date –

  • 6.2 Muskegon *
  • 6.0 Holland
  • 6.0 – White Cloud
  • 6.0 – Shelby
  • 5.8 – Benton Harbor
  • 5.6 – Grand Rapids *
  • 5.6 – Kalamazoo

And Grand Rapids’ current snow depth is the most for any winter season — 24 inches.
