GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — It’s that time of year: the butterflies are back at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.

The first shipment of the tropical butterflies, which will be featured in the Butterflies are Blooming exhibition, recently arrived at the gardens.

Throughout the duration of the exhibit, more than 800 chrysalises will be shipped in each week from Central America, South America, Africa and Asia to live at the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory before being released.

The exhibit runs from March 1 through April 30.
