GRPD: Bicyclist hurt in hit-and-run accident

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – A man is in serious condition at a hospital after police said a vehicle struck him as he rode his bicycle.

The driver then fled the scene, and police need your help tracking down this suspect who was driving an older, gray SUV or minivan.

The incident occurred around 12:20 a.m. Friday near Division Avenue and 28th Street SE in Grand Rapids.

The 21-year-old victim was riding north on Division Avenue through the intersection, and the driver was making a left turn from southbound Division Avenue to eastbound 28th Street when the collision occurred, according to a police news release.

The driver momentarily stopped and then fled eastbound, police said.

The victim, from Grand Rapids, suffered a head injury and was transported to a hospital.
