DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Two people were seriously injured when their vehicles collided head-on along an Isabella County road.

It happened around 8:34 p.m. Thursday on M-20 (Remus Road) near Littlefield Road in Deerfield Township, west of Mount Pleasant.

Elizabeth Poyer, 26, from Grand Haven was traveling west when she tried to pass two other vehicles, but did not have enough time to get around the vehicles before an eastbound vehicle approached, police said.

Poyer’s vehicle struck that eastbound vehicle, which was driven by James Stork, 19, from Stanwood.

Both drivers were extricated from their cars and suffered serious injuries. They were wearing seat belts.

Police believe Poyer was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck.
