Two kids rescued from Hilton Hotel pool

Emergency crews respond to the Kentwood Hilton Hotel on a near drowning (February 23, 2014).

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Two children were pulled from a pool and taken to the hospital after a near drowning Sunday morning.

Around 10:50 a.m. Sunday, the front desk staff at the Hilton Hotel at 28th Street and Patterson Ave called 911. They said there were two children who were unresponsive in the pool.

Kentwood rescue personnel arrived at the hotel within five minutes. By then, bystanders had pulled the kids out of the pool.

Emergency crews said the kids were conscious and breathing when they put them in ambulances and took them to a hospital.

Authorities say the two kids were playing in the pool with adult supervision. At some point, the adult turned away; when the adult looked back at the pool, the two children were still in the pool, but not moving.

Kentwood authorities continue to investigate the incident.
