2 drug busts 15 minutes, 2 miles apart

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) – The Calhoun County Special Response Team conducted two separate drug busts late Sunday night.

The first happened around 11:15 p.m. in the 100 block of West Street, near Emmett Street and North Avenue.

Authorities executed a search warrant and seized firearms, suspected prescription narcotics and cash from the residence, according to a news release.

A felony warrant had been out for the arrest of a 32-year-old female resident. She was taken into custody at the scene.

A warrant is being sought for a 30-year-old Battle Creek man for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Then around 11:30 p.m., deputies with the Calhoun County Special Response Team executed a search warrant in the 200 block of Orleans Avenue, near Capital Avenue and Columbia Avenue, about 2 miles southwest of the first incident.

A search of the residence revealed suspected heroin, marijuana, cash and a handgun.

The resident, a 28-year-old Battle Creek man, will have charges sought against him for possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
