Cooking to improve heart health

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) You’ve heard the old saying, “you are what you eat,” and these days, there are a lot of creative ways to make tasty, heart-friendly meals. A couple of friends from Afternoon Delight Catering and the American Heart Association demonstrate how with a heart healthy quinoa salad.

Heart Healthy Quinoa Salad

2 cups cooked quinoa

½ cup red pepper

½ cup black beans

½ cup diced celery


3 Tbsp. Balsamic vinaigrette

Pinch of chef salt


Greek yogurt sauce

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

¼ cup chipotle hot sauce or pesto

3 Tbsp. lemon juice
