GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – One of two people accused of holding a woman against her will and threatening to rape her has been sentenced.
Fitzpatrick Williams was sentenced Tuesday to 90 days in the Kent County jail with credit for 90 days served, which means he will not serve additional jail time.
In July 2012, Williams, 13-year-old Kevin Cage and a third unknown man allegedly held a woman against her will in an abandoned house in Grand Rapids. During the short time they held her, they allegedly threatened to rape her. She was not hurt.
In December, Williams entered into a plea deal. The prosecutor agreed that Williams would not have to serve jail time and would not have to register as a sex offender in exchange for a no contest plea to a charge of attempted unlawful imprisonment.
A charge of assault with intent to commit sexual penetration, a sex crime, was dropped.
But Williams has now asked to withdraw his no contest plea. The judge says he will allow Williams to file a written motion. If that motion is granted, the sentence will be set aside.
