Man sentenced for soliciting teens for sex

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man could be deported after soliciting teen girls for sex via social media.

Thabet Saleh was sentenced to two years probation and must pay fines and costs. He will have to register as a sex offender. He may be facing deportation because of a criminal conviction.

Between September and October 2012, Saleh allegedly used Facebook between to ask two Wyoming 13-year-olds and a Comstock Park 14-year-old to have sex with him in exchange for money.

After receiving a tip about the alleged crime, police got records from an Internet provider and tracked the messages back to 38-year-old Saleh. They then found records of the Facebook messages on his computer.

He was initially charged with six felonies in three separate cases — three counts of accosting children for immoral purposes and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
