BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) – A Rite Aid employee refused the demands of an attempted robber, who was eventually arrested near the scene.

The incident occurred around 8:39 a.m. Wednesday at 600 North Ave., north of downtown Battle Creek.

A male entered the business, pulled a scarf over his face, and demanded money from the clerk, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect implied he had a weapon in a coat pocket, and at one point threatened to shoot the employee, police said in a news release.

When the employee refused to give the suspect any money, the suspect fled the scene.

The employee called 911 and was able to give a great description of the suspect, who was located and arrested nearby.

The suspect admitted to the crime when interviewed by police.
