Man killed when snowmobile hits SUV

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is dead after authorities say he crashed his snowmobile into a parked SUV.

The crash happened around 9:15 PM Saturday night on Baseline Road, near 55th Street in Columbia Township, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies believe 45-year-old Scott Friend of Decatur was driving his snowmobile down Baseline Road when he hit the back of the SUV, which was parked on the side of the road.

A group of people heard the crash, found Friend and called authorities.

The crash remains under investigation.
