Infant found not breathing; dies at hospital

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 7-month-old has died after paramedics tried to resuscitate the infant Saturday night.

Around 8 p.m. Saturday, medical crews were called out to an apartment in the 2000 Block of Colgrove Avenue on an infant that was not breathing.

EMS crews starting resuscitation procedures on the infant while taking the child to a hospital. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Kalamazoo Township Police are investigating the death. In a statement, Chief Tim Bourgeois wrote: “Based on the limited information available to investigators at this point, foul play is not suspected.” Bourgeois also said both parents were at the apartment at the time of the call.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on the infant Monday.
