Man dies in early morning house fire

AUSTIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Mecosta County man was found dead after firefighters put out an early morning house fire Tuesday.

The fire broke out at the victim’s home on Timber Trail in the northeast section of Austin Township.

When fire and rescue crews arrived on scene, they said the house was fully engulfed by flames.

When the fire department had most of the fire put out, they found the victim’s body inside the house.

The victim’s name has not been released.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Authorities believe the fire started in the house and foul play is not suspected.
