GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – A pair who staged a robbery at a Grand Rapids Little Caesars restaurant will not serve jail time.

Juanita Garcia was sentenced Wednesday to 18 months of probation. Jermaine Fields was sentenced to two years probation. Both must pay more than $800 in costs.

Both were sentenced under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, under which they will not have a criminal record if they complete their sentences.

As part of a plea agreement, Garcia and Field each pleaded guilty in January to embezzlement by an agent or trustee of between $1,000 and $20,000.

In the early hours of Dec. 9, Grand Rapids police were called to the Little Caesars on Leonard Street NW. Garcia, an employee, told officers that a man came into the business and demanded money. She said she gave him some cash, and he fled the scene. About 20 minutes later, police found the suspect not far from the restaurant.

An investigation revealed the suspect was Garcia’s boyfriend Fields and that she gave him the money. Both were arrested.
