Juvenile arrested after man shot in leg

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say they have arrested a juvenile suspect in connection to a Wednesday shooting in Battle Creek.

Officers were called to Bronson Battle Creek around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday after the 22-year-old victim showed up there with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The man said he was shot in the area of Northside Drive and Hazel Street, in the area of Parkway Drive, according to the Battle Creek Police Department. He said two strangers approached him as he was walking and shot him.

The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Thursday, officers with BCPD’s gang unit followed up on leads and arrested one person. The suspect was lodged at the Calhoun County Juvenile Home on “numerous” felony charges.

The prosecutor will consider whether to charge the as-yet unnamed suspect as an adult.
