GR Sports Hall-of-Famer, Rockford admin dies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Valley State University and Rockford community member died Tuesday of cancer.

Jamie Hosford was 58.

He was the assistant superintendent for human resources at Rockford Public Schools until the summer of 2013 after 25 years with the district.

Before that, Hosford won 12 varsity letters at GVSU in football, wrestling, baseball, golf and track. He was a member of the GVSU Hall of Fame and the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame.

He was remembered as always positive, even during his long battle with cancer.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Resurrection Life Church in Rockford. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, also at the church.
