GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan Department of Transportation will host a meeting Thursday to discuss reconstruction on US- 131 and I-96 in Kent County.

The meeting will run from 4 p.m.to 7 p.m. at the Rockford Construction Community Center located at 601 First St. NW in Grand Rapids.

MDOT says the highways will need to be reconstructed over the next 20 years. It is looking for public input about what drivers would like to see.

“We’re interested in what people think of the freeway — what things are bothering them about it; where there are specific traffic issues or pedestrian issues getting over and across and through it. Any number of issues,” MDOT Region Transportation Planner Dennis Kent said.

Another meeting is scheduled for 4p.m. to 7 p.m. March 12 at the Walker Fire State located at 1470 3 Mile Rd NW.
