SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman was killed and two men were seriously hurt in a head-on crash in Newaygo County Monday.
It happened around 12:15 p.m. on Maple Island Avenue just north of 96th Street in Sheridan Township, southwest of Fremont, according to a release from Michigan State Police.
MSP says Todd Raby was headed north on Maple Island when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Blazer.
The Blazer was driven by 57-year-old Frances Brink of Walkerville. Her husband Arthur Brink was in the front passenger’s seat.
Frances Brink was airlifted to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Arthur Brink and Raby, 49, of Hesperia were taken to Mercy Health Hackley Campus in Muskegon, where both were in serious condition Monday evening.
It’s not yet known why Raby’s vehicle crossed the center line. Witnesses said Frances Brink tried to avoid the crash, but couldn’t.
MSP said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
