New hotel coming to Medical Mile

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – A new hotel is coming to the Medical Mile in Grand Rapids.

The Hampton Inn & Suites will be five stories tall and have 142 rooms. A ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled for April, with completion about 14 months later, Brad Rosely, owner of Third Coast Development Partners, told 24 Hour News 8 Monday morning.

The hotel will be located in the Mid Towne Village on Dudley Place just north of Michigan Street NE and east of College Avenue, near the Women’s Health Center, according to a news release.

Grand Rapids-based commercial real estate development firm Third Coast Development and Mount Pleasant-based Lodgco Management are behind the $30 million project.

The hotel will feature standard rooms; suites; a complimentary, hot breakfast; free Internet use; a multi-level parking garage; an indoor pool; a fitness center and other amenities.

“We believe the Hampton Inn & Suites property will become instantly beneficial to the growing Mid Town portion of Michigan Street,” said Dave Levitt, partner of Third Coast Development, which is responsible for many of the Mid Towne projects lining Michigan Street east of downtown. “Third Coast Development is very excited to offer this lodging option to the greater Grand Rapids region.”

“As a Michigan-based company we are excited to work with Third Coast Development on this landmark project for the City of Grand Rapids,” said Michael Smith, president of Lodgco Management.

Lodgco has 15 additional hotels in Michigan, including the North Grand Rapids area, and is growing with new developments each year.

“This new Hampton Inn & Suites expands our footprint in the Grand Rapids market and brings a great product and good jobs to the Mid Town area. It’s a great win for everybody,” said Smith.

The hotel will offer between 30 and 40 new jobs.
