GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A multimillion dollar expansion at Proos Manufacturing is expected to bring 50 new jobs to Grand Rapids.
Proos Manufacturing, a metal fabrication and stamping operation headquartered on Michigan Street NE, already employs 83 people in the Grand Rapids area, according to a Wednesday release from economic development agency The Right Place, Inc.
Now, Proos will invest $5.7 million to renovate its Oak Industrial Drive facility, south of I-196. That will add 50 new jobs, though it’s not yet clear when hiring will begin.
Proos is getting a $200,000 grant from the Michigan Business Development Program, which was approved Wednesday, as part of a $715,000 incentive package that is making the expansion possible.
The expansion is part of a three-year strategic growth plan that The Right Place announced in January. That plan focuses on five growth industries for West Michigan, one of which was smart manufacturing.
