Body found along path in Hastings

HASTINGS, Mich. (WOOD) — Hastings Police are investigating what caused a man’s death after his body was found lying in the snow Friday.

Police were called out to the area around 3:20 p.m. Friday after a man walking his dog found an unresponsive man was lying “face-down” in the snow near a foot bridge in Hastings near the intersection of Hanover Street and East Mill Street.

The foot bridge crosses the Thornapple river.

Hastings Police Chief Jerry Sarver tells 24 Hour News 8 that there is no obvious signs of trauma or that a crime had been committed at the scene.

Identification was found on the 53-year-old Hastings man and police are working to notify the victim’s next of kin.
