GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. According to the Brain Injury Association of America, 2.4 million people suffer a brain injury each year, and falls are the number one cause of traumatic brain injury. Dr. Benjamin Gillespie from Spectrum Health Medical Group has some tips on how to prevent falls and protect your brain.

  • Falls
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Sports injuries
  • Violence 

Fall prevention tips

  • Begin a regular exercise program
  • Have your health care provider review your medications
  • Have your vision checked
  • Make your home safer
