PORTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Two people were injured in a crash in Cass County when the driver fell asleep.

Kyle Hopkins was driving west on U.S. 12 east of Birch Road in Porter Township, west of White Pigeon, around 11:13 p.m. Sunday.

When he dozed off, the vehicle crossed the center line, went off the road and overturned, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

Hopkins, 17, from Sturgis, and his passenger, 21-year-old Frank Tenny-Button of Sturgis, were transported to a hospital.

Alcohol was not a factor, and it is unknown if the victims were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
