HASTINGS, Mich. (WOOD) — Consumers Energy is offering credit to customers affected by the December ice storm that left many without power for days — but a Hastings woman said Consumers denied her the credit she was due.
Consumers customer Stephanie Joerin said she applied for the credit after she was without power for more than a week. But a letter from Consumers said she was denied because she was not without power for more than the 120 hours needed to get the credit.
24 Hour News 8 called Consumers looking for an answer. A spokesperson said the letter was standard, and should clarified the reason Joerin was denied — that she asked for credit more than once.
Then, on Monday, less than 24 hours after 24 Hour News 8 called, Joerin received a $25 credit — which Consumers said they approved on Feb. 14.
“Hopefully if people are in a similar situation to what I had, they will be able to remedy it and get the credit,” Joerin said.
