SAND LAKE, Mich. (WOOD) – Two semi-trucks collided on U.S. 131 in Montcalm County Tuesday morning, resulting in lanes being closed for more than three hours.
The wreck occurred around 5:05 a.m. in the southbound lanes south of Pierson Road, west of Pierson.
One of the truck drivers pulled over to the right shoulder after the trailer’s rear-facing lights were not working.
The other truck was forced to the shoulder to avoid a collision with a passenger car, police said, and in the process struck the rear of the parked semi-truck and trailer. Both truck drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The highway was closed until 8:39 a.m. as crews cleared the scene, as well as cleaned up fuel that had leaked.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
