Victims identified in fatal Montcalm Co. crash

CATO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) —Authorities have released the identities of three men, one who died, involved in a two-vehicle wreck last weekend.

One of the drivers, 72-year-old Calby Hunter from Greenville, died at the scene. Authorities said he was not wearing a seat belt. His passenger, 58-year-old Peter Nielsen from Coral, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The other driver, 54-year-old Daniel Devore from Lakeview, suffered minor injuries.

The incident occurred at 10:25 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of M-46 and Youngman Road in Cato Township, south of Lakeview, in Montcalm County.

Hunter was traveling north, failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with an eastbound vehicle, according to Michigan State Police.

Authorities said alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
