Resident rescued from duplex fire

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – One person was rescued from a fire inside a duplex in Grand Rapids.

The fire sparked around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Hazen Street and Eastern Avenue SE.

Fire officials told 24 Hour News 8 someone saw flames and a person in the duplex, and went inside and rescued that resident.

The victim is being treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
