WEST OLIVE, Mich. (WOOD) – The Harbor Humane Society says it needs donations to replace its roof after this winter caused huge ice dams, water leaks, water damage and the loss of heat to the facility.

“These challenges are creating additional expense for us, and could lead to further problems like structural damage, mold and other health and safety concerns for our staff and the animals,” operations director Jeff Stiegman said in a news release.

“Our roof was already in need of dire repair due to age, the unprecedented snowfalls this season has accelerated the demise of our roof. We were not planning on this unexpected expense now, but we have 200 to 300 furry little faces on any given day who we’re charged with keeping warm and dry and safe.”generic Harbor Humane Society 032114

The staff’s goal is to raise $50,000.
