GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) The Ladies Night Out event at Art Van Furniture was a huge success! One thousand women came out to enjoy a night of free food, drinks, and pampering. Art Van invited in some local businesses to show off their wares and it was a great time for all!

Art Van is not done giving back to the community. It is announcing a new Challenge Grant Competition, as part of its 2014 Art Van Million Dollar Charity Challenge. The grant competition will award $375,000 to non-profit organizations in the areas where Art Van has stores, including Michigan. The Challenge Grant Competition happens in three phases. First, non-profits that focus on children, health care, and human services can apply for a grant until April 7. Second, charities are picked to develop a fundraising strategy. Third, the charities will compete to raise the most money from May 19 through June 23. At that time, bonus challenges will be held for $500 Art Van Furniture gift cards and $1,000 bonus grants.

On June 24, the winning charity will be awarded $75,000. The rest of the top ten will get grants between $7,500 and $60,000. The rest of the charities will split $35,000.

Art Van is also launching a great opportunity in their Supermodel Search. Famed photographer Nigel Barker, who you might know from America’s Next Top Model and The Face, is the brains behind Art Van’s spring catalog, coming out in April. So Art Van decided to hold a supermodel search to ask people to be in an Art Van Commercial. The winner gets a $1,000 gift card, a picture taken with Nigel Barker, and an outfit from Saks Fifth Avenue. The deadline to enter is April 1.
