GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man suspected in a high-end sofa heist appeared in court Monday on an unrelated charge.
Michael McClerin was arraigned on a charge of being a felon in possession of a weapon and a habitual offender.
Police say he is the person whole stole a $6,700 couch from Gorman’s furniture store on 28th Street and then came back days later to take the cushions he had left behind.
During their investigation into McClerin, police found a storage unit filled with other stolen items.
McClerin has not yet been charged with any burglaries.
His bond was set Monday at $50,000 cash or surety. He is expected back in court for a preliminary hearing on March 31.
