GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kent County Sheriff’s Department is looking for help to solve several smash-and-grab burglaries at area businesses over the weekend.

At least seven businesses were broken into or robbed. At many of the robberies, doors were either pried open or windows were smashed in. Robbers were in and out in a matter of minutes.

Surveillance images released Tuesday show crooks at a Subway restaurant in the 6700 block of Kalamazoo Avenue in Gaines Township.

Also Tuesday, authorities released surveillance video of a similar burglary at the Verizon Store in the 11000 block of Fulton Street in Lowell. There, the door was pried open and thieves made off with what the sheriff’s department called a large number of cellphones.

“We are trying to look at all of the videos and see if there are any similarities. We are trying to look at methods of operations. We are trying to put the video out there to the news media to see if we can get any help that way. We are just in the initial stages of the investigation,” Kent County Sheriff’s Department Cap. Kevin Kelly said.

Kelley said there were also break ins in Grandville, Walker and Wyoming and local police agencies are comparing notes.
