OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people had to be rescued from an overturned car after it was involved in a three-vehicle wreck on Thursday evening in Oshtemo Township.
It happened around 5:40 p.m. in the 8600 block of Stadium Drive, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials said a 56-year-old man from Mattawan was driving west on Stadium Drive when he was rear-ended by a vehicle as he tried to turn into a private driveway.
The impact caused the man’s car to cross over the center line and hit an oncoming van driven by a 25-year-old man from Kalamazoo, according to the sheriff’s office.
That wreck caused the man’s car to flip over, and he and his passenger were trapped inside the vehicle. The Oshtemo Township Fire and Rescue Department was able to get them both out.
Both of the people in the overturned car, as well as the driver of the van and the 36-year-old Paw Paw woman who was in the vehicle that rear-ended the car, were taken to local hospitals to be checked out, sheriff’s officials said.
Sheriff’s deputies are still investigating the crash.
