Boy, 3, in serious after near-drowning

DOUGLASS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 3-year-old boy has been upgraded to serious condition after his father found him in a pond Friday evening.

Around 5:40 p.m., Michigan State Police troopers were called out to a residence in Douglass Township.  Tucker Evans was found in a pond behind his home. It is unknown how long he was in the pond.

His father started to resuscitate Tucker because he was not breathing. When authorities arrived, Tucker was breathing on his own.

Medical crews took Tucker to Spectrum Health Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview, and was later taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital via Aero-Med in critical condition.

Hospital officials tell 24 Hour News 8 that Tucker was upgraded to serious condition Saturday night.
