Motorcyclist thrown from bike, killed

GIRARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A motorcyclist died Saturday after crashing his motorcycle in Branch County.

It happened just before 7 p.m. on Marshall Road near Fleming Road in Girard Township between Tekonsha and Coldwater, according to Michigan State Police.

A 24-year-old Grand Ledge man was killed in the single-vehicle crash.

Witnesses told MSP the motorcyclist was headed south on Marshall Road when he lost control, was thrown from his motorcycle and hit a guardrail.

Emergency responders took the man to Coldwater Community Health Center, where he later died.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, MSP said.
