KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Kentwood are looking for a suspect after he assaulted a man with a knife Sunday morning.

The assault happened around 6 a.m. Sunday at the Countryside Townhouse apartment complex in the 4800 block of Arbor Lane SE in the city of Kentwood.

The 31-year-old victim was taken to the hospital for a cut on his head, but the injury is non-life threatening.

Authorities said neither the victim or the suspect live at the home where the altercation took place. It is believed the victim and the suspect may know each other, although their relationship is unknown at this time.

The suspect, a 43-year-old man fled the scene and witnesses told police he had a handgun on him prior to the assault.

Officers from the Kentwood Police Department, along with the Departments Special Response Team searched two homes for the suspect, but he was not found.
